Big Bear Discovery Center is run by the San Bernardino National Forest Association and the United States Forest Service. The Discovery Center is an information center and educational facility about the San Bernardino National Forest. It is in the Big Bear Valley, on the North side of Big Bear Lake. The Center's stated goals are to: Help visitors be responsible visitors, be caretakers of a national forest, and help visitors enjoy and be more knowledgeable of San Bernardino National Forest. There is no entrance fee to the center. The center is located at: 40971 North Shore Drive/ Hwy 38, Fawnskin, California 92333 The center offers: National Forest Adventure Pass, Hiking & Biking Maps, Camping Information, Maps of Forest Roads & Off-road vehicle Adventures, Forest Service Permits, Naturalist-led Tours and Interpretive Programs, Environmental Education School, snack Café and a gift shop. The San Bernardino National Forest Association is a non-profit organization. North of the center is the Pacific Crest Trail.
